1. Agreement and eligibility
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to Privy AI ("Privy" or the "Service"), including the Privy Chrome extension, extension dashboard, Privy API, and related website. Privy is operated by Greenhouse Ventures, LLC ("Greenhouse Ventures," "we," "our," or "us") under the Greenhouse Labs brand. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement to use Privy. Privy is a general-audience service and is not directed to children.
2. What Privy currently provides
Privy is a Chrome Manifest V3 side-panel extension that provides:
- User-initiated analysis of active-page text, pasted text, and right-click selections.
- Local text extraction and user-initiated analysis of TXT, Markdown, PDF, and DOCX files up to 20 MB.
- Local detection of likely legal documents and local discovery of related policy links.
- Plain-language summaries, consumer risk levels and rationales, evidence-backed flagged clauses, favorable terms, takeaways, and recommended actions.
- Firebase authentication and structured saved report history.
- Report search, filtering, detail views, deletion, and Markdown export.
- Local structured-result caching, cache controls, and light, dark, and Privy themes.
Privy does not currently provide installer or executable scanning, AI chat, passive monitoring, automatic remote analysis, terms-change alerts, or subscription reminders.
3. Informational use; not legal advice
Privy provides automated informational analysis. It is not a law firm, lawyer, financial adviser, or substitute for professional advice. No attorney-client relationship is created.
You are responsible for reviewing the original document and deciding whether to agree. Consult a qualified professional when a term may materially affect your rights, finances, business, or legal position.
4. AI limitations
Automated analysis can be incomplete, outdated, inconsistent, or wrong. Privy may miss relevant definitions, cross-references, exceptions, jurisdiction-specific effects, or context outside the submitted text. Risk levels are consumer-oriented signals, not objective legal conclusions.
Source excerpts help you verify a finding, but they do not guarantee that an explanation captures the complete document. Do not rely on Privy as the sole basis for an important decision.
5. Accounts and access
Some features require Firebase authentication. You are responsible for keeping your account access secure, providing accurate account information, and notifying us of suspected unauthorized use. You may not access another person's account or attempt to bypass authentication, usage limits, or service controls.
Privy may suspend or restrict access when reasonably necessary to protect the Service, investigate abuse, comply with law, or address a material breach of these Terms.
6. Analysis credits and one-time purchases
Privy uses one analysis-credit balance rather than subscriptions or plan tiers:
- Every account starts with 3 analyses at no charge.
- One analysis is consumed only after a new report completes successfully.
- Failed requests and reused matching saved or cached reports do not consume an analysis.
- A one-time $5 purchase adds 15 analyses to the existing balance.
There is no subscription, plan tier, recurring renewal, free trial, monthly reset, or billing portal. Requesting and successfully completing a fresh analysis may consume one analysis even when a previous report exists.
Production checkout has not completed live verification and no purchase can be completed through this website. When enabled, the one-time purchase will use Stripe-hosted Checkout inside Privy. The stated price does not include applicable taxes. When tax collection is enabled and required, applicable taxes will be calculated and shown before payment.
Except where required by law, purchases are final once analysis credits are granted. If payment completes but the purchased analyses are not granted, Privy will correct the balance or issue a full refund. Duplicate charges, unauthorized charges, and other exceptional circumstances may be reviewed individually by contacting support@getprivy.net. A discretionary refund may be declined after any purchased analyses have been used.
7. User content and permission to process it
You retain any rights you have in text you submit. You grant Privy and its service providers limited permission to process submitted text and related metadata only as needed to provide, secure, and troubleshoot the requested Service, subject to the Privacy Policy and provider terms.
You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that doing so does not violate law, contractual restrictions, or another person's rights. Do not submit secrets, highly sensitive personal information, privileged material, or content you are not authorized to process.
8. Acceptable use
You may not:
- Use the Service unlawfully or to facilitate harm.
- Attempt unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data.
- Interfere with, overload, scrape, reverse engineer, or circumvent Service controls except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Bypass analysis-credit, authentication, or other service controls.
- Submit malware, malicious instructions, or content intended to compromise the Service or providers.
- Misrepresent Privy output as professional legal advice or a guaranteed legal conclusion.
- Use the Service to violate intellectual-property, privacy, confidentiality, or contractual rights.
9. Privy intellectual property
The Service, website, branding, interfaces, and software are owned by Greenhouse Ventures or its licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms provide a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use the Service for its intended purpose. They do not transfer ownership of Privy technology or branding.
10. Third-party services
Privy relies on third-party services including Google Chrome, Firebase / Google Cloud, and OpenAI. When production checkout is enabled, Stripe will provide the hosted one-time payment flow. Their availability, terms, and privacy practices may affect the Service. Privy is not responsible for third-party websites or legal documents you choose to analyze.
11. Availability, changes, and termination
We may modify, pause, or discontinue features; impose reasonable security or usage controls; or release updates needed for compatibility and safety. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.
You may stop using Privy at any time. Removing the extension does not by itself delete saved Firestore reports. Report deletion and account-data handling are described in the Privacy Policy. We may terminate or suspend access for material violations, security risk, legal requirements, or service discontinuation.
12. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of accuracy, completeness, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted operation. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Privy does not warrant that an analysis identifies every harmful or favorable term, predicts how a clause will be enforced, or makes a document safe to accept.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Greenhouse Ventures is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of or inability to use the Service, or for decisions made in reliance on automated output without reviewing the original document.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, Greenhouse Ventures' total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service or these Terms will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid for Privy during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
14. Indemnification and disputes
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Greenhouse Ventures and its officers, employees, and agents from third-party claims, damages, liabilities, and reasonable costs arising from your unlawful misuse of the Service, content you submit without authority, or material violation of these Terms. This obligation does not apply to claims caused by Greenhouse Ventures' own unlawful conduct.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Colorado, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. The state and federal courts located in Denver, Colorado have exclusive jurisdiction and venue over disputes arising from the Service or these Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise. These Terms do not require arbitration.
Before filing a non-urgent dispute, contact support@getprivy.net and allow 30 days for the parties to attempt an informal resolution. This request does not shorten or waive any legal deadline or available right.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes. We will revise the effective date and provide additional notice when appropriate. Material payment terms will be presented before any purchase flow is enabled.
